The Quote Book

The Quote Book

Dear parents, (And grandparents, and nannies, too!)

People often ask how we work with kids all day long. The answer is simple: they are the most cheerful beings on this planet, they soak up knowledge like sponges, and they are a riot!

So, the days are spontaneous and each day is full of excitement. Everyone knows the saying “In the blink of an eye…” Well, it’s true. In the blink of an eye, your kid is going to be all grown up, graduating preschool, off to Kindergarten and then all of sudden done with high school!

As preschool teachers, we see students come and go and it’s always bittersweet to see them leave for Kindergarten. We miss all the hilarious things they say, their tight hugs, and the unexpected intelligent answers they thought of that even we didn’t! And you, as parents, can’t possibly film their every move, even with our iphones out 24/7… So, we started keeping quote books. BEST THING EVER!

Here’s what we do in quote books:
Each time we hear something funny or cute, or out of the ordinary, we take out our quote book.

  • Write their name
  • Put the date. (Don’t forget!)
  • And, of course, what was said!

It is SO much fun to go back and reminisce. It also makes for a great gift for the parents at the end of the year.

Here’s a few examples:

“Miss Ashley, may I please fluff your brows?” “Ok”, I said. “Why do you love eyebrows so much?” Well, mostly because they are fluffy, he replied.

What is your favorite food? “I don’t like robin or rooster; I like lamb but I don’t know if I like it from a white sheep or a black sheep so my mom buys both.”

“What are those black things poking out of your leg? My mommy sometimes has those, too!”

Is Mommy a good cook? “No.”

xoxo
